I’m excited to announce my participation in the 10 Pound Challenge. It’s all about losing your next 10 pounds, and at the end of a marathon holiday season the timing couldn’t be better for most of us.

This creative idea by Newlyweds On A Budget uses modern social networks to connect participants in an online support group. This provides a comforting degree of anonymity, sharing only our starting weight with others if we want to (it’s completely optional). However, everyone in the group benefits from accountability partners and a supportive network who are all committed to the same goal. I like it a lot.

It works like this: Sign up at the 10-Pound Challenge. Official kick-off is January 16 and runs through April 9. That’s 12 weeks to lose 10 pounds, making it a very achievable weekly target of 0.833 pounds. Engage in group discussions and support your fellow competitors, and share your success. It’s free to enter, and there are lots of GREAT PRIZES.

I’m not going to offend anyone by posting my ‘before’ picture, but I do have some extra weight to lose. I managed to add 15 pounds last year and this trend needs to be reversed now, even if that means blogging less and working-out more. I’ll share updates as I progress in the challenge. Beginning weight: 225 lb

I hope to see you in the 10 Pound Challenge.

I hear ya. I have trouble keeping the weight off, as well, but I’m not giving up. I just read “The 4 Hour Body” by Tim Ferriss and I was inspired by the book. Enough so that I think it will lead me to try the program. I know that being fit and healthy is insurance for my future and will most likely provide a good quality of life. Who doesn’t want that?

  8. Blogging seems to mean sitting on our asses a lot. What we all need is one of those fancy treadmill desks, that would solve some problems. Good luck on your weight loss, Hunter. :-)
